Neighborhood #3 (Power Out)

so there i am, just about to open up the shoppe on a sunday morning. scones in the oven, coffee just done brewing. you feel that? and as the shaking gets...well, shakier? i realize it's an earthquake. wow, pretty crazy. never felt one of those before. what's this, another one? can we just close and go home?

open up shop and give a sarcastic "good morning" to the ppl outside waiting, of course all freaking out. i don't know what it is, but i don't freak out about things like earthquakes, black outs, and random acts of nature. anyway, i digress... give a few servings of coffee to the early birds, and oh hold on, here comes another quake. though not as big as the first two, it was pretty strong. shortly after i hear this very annoying hum, like a very loud fridge. it's really starting to get on my nerves. then i realize it's the generator for the complex, and it's shutting down. the lights flicker, and there goes power.

being the nice independent shoppe we are, we stay open for about 3 hours after the quake & power outtage. we make $400 selling every last drop of coffee & baked good in the shop. there's my good deed for the year. all in all, quite the sunday.
